1. XVth International Congress on Mathematical Physics: As you know well the congress will convene in Rio from August 6 to August 11 this year, cf. the ICMP web page. In connection with this there are several things you might want pay attention to:
   

   • Call from the local organizers: Deadlines for reduced registration fees and for poster submissions are now extended to May 31. Organizers especially encourage  young researchers to present  their work and apply for financial support. Grants will be available for recent Ph.D. students and participants from developing countries. The deadline for applications for financial support is extended to May 31 as well.
     
     Don't miss this wonderful opportunity to participate in one of the most important and exciting events in the field and also to enjoy Rio de Janeiro!
     
   
   
   • General Assembly: During the Congress there will be a meeting of the General Assembly. The agenda includes a report from the President, bids for the organisation of the ICMP in 2009, and also changes in the Statutes - see the following item.
     
   
   
   • Statutes changes: The statutes and bylaws of IAMP were written three decades ago. The world is changing quickly and the Executive Committee feels that some modifications would be useful, in particular, in the voting procedures where the postal ballots should be replaced by a system reflecting realities of the electronic age. A proposal resulting from an EC discussion and a legal expertise with the intended changes is posted here. Please send your comments to the Secretary.
     
   
   
   • Visa information for the participants: Please check carefully the Brasilian visa requirements regarding your country. There have been recent changes and citizens of several countries recently need a visa, or a new kind of visa, to enter Brazil - see here.
